
New Delhi (info desk) The Indian Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) has described the sexual harassment of two Australian women cricketers in Indore as unfortunate and asserted that the incident has defamed India. BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla, as per Indian media, has stated that all measures would be taken to provide security to women cricketers. He added that this whole incident is very unfortunate and we condemn it, we will do whatever is necessary and the police have arrested the accused. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has also expressed regret and appraised the Madhya Pradesh Police for arresting the accused on the spot. He stated that this is a very tragic incident, incidents like these bring shame, we welcome the state police for acting swiftly and arresting the accused, now the law will proceed in its own way to punish the accused.
It needs to be noted that two days ago, a case of sexual harassment took place with two members of the Australian team playing in the Women’s Cricket World Cup in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India, wherein a motorcyclist improperly touched them and drove away. The two members of the Australian women’s cricket team were going to a nearby cafe near the hotel when the incident took place. As per Sub-Inspector Nidhi Raghovanshi, the motorcyclist man attempted to follow the players and touched one of the players inappropriately and escaped.
