Smog in Pakistan: The Silent Killer in Our Skies
The National Institute of Health (NIH) has issued a warning that smog could lead to a rise in breathing related illnesses. They have urged health sectors, authorities, and experts across the country to take necessary measures to deal with smog related health risks.
The advisory states that during the winter season, smog can seriously harm human health, especially from now to February. The combination of cold weather and harmful pollutants in the air can increase the risk of pneumonia. Smog can harmful for health, economy, and quality of life.
The National Institute of Health (NIH) has said that several cities in Punjab including Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad are at higher risk of smog related health problems.
The NIH has advised health departments, authorities, and experts across the country to take proper action against smog. They recommend that children should avoid staying outdoors for long periods, both children and adults, should wear face masks to protect themselves for those conditions.
