In Indonesia’s East Java province (Pacitan Regency), 74 years old man named Tarman recently married a 24 years old woman named Shela Arika a marriage that stunned the public because of their 50 years age difference.
Tarman reportedly gave Shela a mehr bridal gift worth 3 billion Indonesian rupiah (over 50 million Pakistani rupees). Their wedding was held on October 1, and during the event, a symbolic cheque was publicly handed over to the bride, which excited the guests. Interestingly, instead of receiving gifts, the groom’s family gave cash 100,000 rupiah to each guest who attended.
The wedding went viral online, mainly because of the videographer company that covered the event. Soon after, rumors spread that the groom had left the venue without paying the videographers, and that he might have even escaped on a motorcycle. Some people even began to say that the billion-rupiah cheque was fake.
However, a few days later of marriage, Tarman himself clarified on social mediathat the cheque was completely authentic and real.
